Well there may have been some winter warming hibernation at M&M HQ but our time has come…Wednesday night 25th January, we are proud to take the stage with a roster of very talented musicians in association with Independent Venue Week for Chalk Farm Folk’s first event of 2017. Let’s’ be honest, it feels a bit like the year has barely begun and it’s all gone to pot – so we’ve got to do things that open peoples hearts and our own – we’ve got to take it back! Join us along with Bird Radio, Blake, and The Roselly’s for one killer night of tunes. We’ve missed you over this Christmas period and it’s time for us to make up for lost time. Join us at 7:30 at The Monarch and make sure you get your tickets in advance so you don’t lose your spot. You’d be a whole lot cooler if you did…
Londoners – join us this evening for an bill of Americana and Blues at The Monarch in Camden! With free entry and doors from 7:30pm, we’ll be warming up the night with a duo set of some tunes from the forthcoming 3rd album. (We’re back in the studio Sunday morning so awfully soon, the smoke should clear and and we will have a single ready for your ears in no time!) Following us this evening will be 2 fellow Soup Studio comrades: Ollie Seymour-Marsh & Friends & Golden Spike (nee the Tender Hips) both of which are burgeoning new formations and sure to make a splash on the local Americana scene. Closing the night will be Jimmy Regal & The Royals, ever worth the wait so plan to stay til the end. Bound to be a cracker. x
We’re back at The Monarch in Camden tomorrow evening for a great line up hosted as always by yours truly. We’ll be taking the stage full band at 9:30 and sharing the bill with Jack Joseph Band, Dan Raza, and Dave Santos & The Odds n’ Ends. Entry is free all night at Chalk Farm Folk and it’s definitely worth a visit if you’ve never been down. Check out the event page HERE!
Slowly but steadily 2015 is looking way up. The days are getting longer, Spring is nearly at our door, and Mahoney & The Moment are finally cooking up some good music news. We broke into the new year with our final Tuesday event at The Monarch on the 27th of January along side Bird Radio, Ellie O’Keeffe and StevieRay Latham. That night we headlined with our first full band set in ages, welcoming on board the massively talented Ashley Hallinan on drums. Omitting to post about this last month was a true disgrace as it was possibly the best poster imaginable (see down below). We are now thrilled to bring our British-infused Americana to Thursday nights at The Monarch as Chalk Farm Folk Returns this very Thursday, 26th February.
After a raining day’s band rehearsal in Chiswick yesterday we’re genuinely amped to shell out a few new songs that are primed for the upcoming 3rd album. If all goes as planned, we will be demoing the full catalogue of new material accrued over the last year and a half in the next month. There is so much to put down now that the lot is likely to spill into 2 full albums and 1 EP…nothing short of a creative purge! We also have some travelling on the horizon and non-CFF gigs to announce but we’ll get to that in our next post.
So, join us this week to sample 2 of our new tracks and enjoy what will be a full band showdown of CFF alums: The Yes Mess, Lazy Heart Parade and Black River Wild. We plan to send you all back to work on Friday morning tired (and maybe hungover) but definitely tapping your feet uncontrollably.
Tonight is our absolutely final gig of 2014 and it’s a Christmas special of course. There may be baby songs thrown into the mix no more than a few weeks old and quite possibly even a shocking Christmas cover. Afterwhich, Mahoney & The Moment will be sitting down to review the year in music, organize our new recording schedule and get a newsletter out with photos, vids, and fresh updates for 2015. Free entry tonight as always with Dj Stev Mayo spinning his playlist inbetween sets. Gonna be a cracker! In the meantime check out last year’s Christmas Single: “Don’t Say No! at Christmas” HERE
